About Tessa · MSc Psychologist & Founder

Tessa Geurts-Meulendijks, MSc Psychologist and founder of Talk2Tessa

People who appeared capable and strong on the outside - yet inside felt mentally busy, tense, or quietly exhausted.
Not because they were broken, but because they had never learned how to relate to themselves with clarity and kindness.

At some point, I noticed I was doing the same thing - speaking to myself in ways I would never speak to the people sitting across from me.

And as a
mother of two
young children,

I know how full and mentally demanding life can feel. Meaningful and beautiful yet often overwhelming at the same time.

Talk2Tessa grew from that intersection: professional psychological knowledge, everyday life, and the need for support that feels gentle, structured, and genuinely accessible.

"Lasting change rarely comes from pushing harder. It comes from learning to relate differently to your thoughts and emotions."

My background

Fifteen years working with minds that never  seemed to rest.

I'm Tessa, MSc Psychologist and NIP-registered psychologist, with over 15 years of experience in mental health care. I hold an MSc in Health & Social Psychology and a BSc in Psychology & Neuroscience, both from Maastricht University, where I graduated cum laude.

Over the course of my career, I've worked across the full spectrum of mental health care in the Netherlands in a general practice, outpatient community mental health (RIAGG), specialised psychiatric care, and an independent psychology practice, both face to face and online.

The people I worked with came with a wide range of experiences: anxiety and chronic worry, overthinking and rumination, burnout and exhaustion, depression, sleep problems, self-criticism, trauma, personality difficulties, and more. That breadth taught me something I return to again and again that the same gentle principles apply across almost all of it.

My therapeutic training spans Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, and self-compassion. My neuroscience background informs how I think about the nervous system not just psychologically, but biologically. Stress, emotion, and chronic pressure leave real traces in the body, and any approach that ignores that is incomplete.

Working with trauma shaped my approach most deeply. I learned that safety, pacing, emotional boundaries, and trust always come before technique.

What I saw, again and again, was this:

Lasting change rarely comes from pushing harder. It comes from learning to relate differently to your thoughts and emotions.

Why Talk2Tessa exists

Gentle enough to use on a  difficult Tuesday evening.

Access to mental health care is often limited by waiting lists, short treatment periods, or high thresholds. Many people struggle long before therapy begins, between sessions, or after therapy ends.

I often met people who were functioning, responsible, and holding everything together while quietly struggling.

I wanted to create something that could exist alongside real life. Psychologist designed self-help that is structured but not rigid. Supportive but not overwhelming. Grounded in real clinical knowledge yet gentle enough to use on a difficult Tuesday evening.

Not as a replacement for therapy.
But as meaningful psychological support in everyday moments.

"Gentle enough to use on a difficult Tuesday evening."

Why Journaling and AI-Guided Reflection

The psychology leads.
The technology supports.

When used gently, journaling helps people slow down and notice their inner experience without judgment.

I use AI-guided reflection only as structure never as a therapist or authority. The psychology leads. The technology supports pacing and clarity.

Everything is designed so that you remain in control at every step.

01

You remain in control

Nothing is directive. Nothing pushes you further than feels safe.

02

You can pause and return

No momentum to maintain, no pressure to keep going.

03

No pressure to perform

You cannot do this wrong. Your experience stays central.

04

Your experience stays central

AI is structure. You are the subject. That order never changes.

My Approach

I don't believe people need fixing.

Awareness before control

Gentleness before pressure

Safety before insight

Compassion as the foundation
for growth

I don't believe in forcing change. Everything I create is shaped by this.
